A YEAR IN DEVELOPMENT

Printing real photographic prints from negs or trannies is a bit like playing 12 inch vinyl. Superb quality but it’s really difficult to do. Four Corners, just around the block from our studio, is one of the few darkroom facilities in London that still promote ‘analogue’ image production. They exhibit and produce real photographic prints in the onsite darkroom in the basement. Labyrinth Photographic have seen a real vinyl-like movement back towards producing film and prints in traditional baths of chemicals. There’s just something stunning about an analogue photo print – black and white or colour – that can’t be replicated by digital images. Labyrinth’s ‘A Year In Development’ end of year show collects all the photographers that use their lovely, smelly chemicals processes into one big show. Very splendid stuff indeed.
